RD2 GTA Pro Am Auto Club Speedway “86 Fest” Coverage

86 Fest had a great turn out of over 4,000 attendees; boasting 240 entries for their car show, and with cars driving out from as far as Florida. There were over 70 vendors present from Toyo Tires to Apex’i.

Our Honda Civic EG Race Car was transformed from a rolling shell to a 220 WHP track monster in the last two months! We also added a Honda Civic EK Race Car, which was prepped the week before in a mad rush.

Being a shakedown session at GTA, the Limited Class EG Race Car showed its weaknesses. Driver Bryan Friday said the car began to overheat after the first timed lap. Boost levels were only reading 5psi bringing the WHP down to 200, and the brakes were spongy. We could not get the overheating to stop, and could run only one lap at each session, allowing us to clock 5 laps for the entire day. Considering all of this, and the fact that we were running with street tires, we still were able to walk away with second place for Limited that day. Not bad for a shake down!

The Street Class EK Race Car was running a completely stock engine. The horsepower is unknown at this time, but we are assuming it’s anywhere from 130WPH to 140WHP. The car was solid the entire day. The only complaint driver Steven Friday had, was that the suspension was too soft and that he over cooked the tires. All-in-all, we did well, finishing third, and beating out other higher horsepower cars in other classes!

In addition to our track cars, we undertook a 10 foot vendor booth displaying products and goodies from our sponsors! Our booth got a lot of attention, especially with our Honda S2000 and Nissan 350Z in front sitting pretty! The hot ticket items we sold were Tein umbrellas to help beat the heat!

We expect more podium finishes at our next event, hoping for a 1st in Limited FF, an overall FF Best Time, and a 2nd in Street FF. For the vendor/show side of things, we are prepping our next event with a DJ, music, and giveaways!

Our next event is Subiefest/Nissfest and Redline Time Attack at Autoclub Speedway in Fontana, California. The event is scheduled for Saturday and Sunday, September 24-25, 2016, hosting a car show, track day and AutoX. We will have a vendor booth during the event, as well as participating in the Redline Time Attack series driving in the Street FF class and Modified FF class.
